No Vacancy (2021)

Synopsis

A lost traveller stumbles into an out-of-place hotel lobby during a mysterious storm and has a conversation with a particularly ambivalent hotel employee.

Foreword

Filmed over a single-day workshop based on the practical application of the ARRI Amira at Macquarie University. A simple hotel lobby constructed using A-frame walls, odd props, and practical lighting sources set the scene for a simple 2 page script. A variety of camera compositions and lighting setups demonstrated the technical abilities that the ARRI Amira possesses, giving comparative contrast to the standard 4:2:2 10-bit output of the Sony FX6.

No Vacancy (2021) is a practical application of skills and techniques in partnership with ARRI Australia to give Macquarie University students access to feature-grade equipment such as the ARRI Amira and ARRI lighting fixtures.

Technical Specifications

Shot on an ARRI Amira with a Fujinon Cabrio 19-90mm T2.9 Cine Lens (Mk1).
